There are two ways of preventing hair loss, the use of Anti-androgens and the use of growth stimulators. Anti-androgens are a group of medications used to combat hair loss in both men and women. They work by blocking the effects of androgens, such as testosterone, on hair follicles. This prevents the follicles from shrinking and ultimately results in increased hair growth.

Anti-androgens can be administered topically or orally. Topical anti-androgens are applied directly to the scalp, while oral anti-androgens are taken in pill form. Both methods have been shown to be effective in combating hair loss.

One of the most commonly used topical anti-androgens is RU58841. It works by blocking the androgen receptors in the hair follicles, which helps to prevent hair loss. Another topical anti-androgen is topical Dutastride, which works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that is known to cause hair loss.

Oral anti-androgens, such as Finasteride and Dutasteride tables, work by inhibiting the production of DHT. These medications have been shown to be effective in treating male pattern baldness and are also sometimes used to treat hair loss in women.

In addition to anti-androgens, another medication commonly used to combat hair loss is minoxidil. Minoxidil is a topical solution that is applied directly to the scalp. It works by increasing blood flow to the hair follicles, which can stimulate hair growth. While the exact mechanism of action is not fully understood, studies have shown that minoxidil can be an effective treatment for both male and female pattern baldness. Minoxidil is also available in a tablet form.
